Stay Sith, or Go Republic?

Classes, based on coolness factor:

Rogue (smuggler/agent) - Republic wins
Dps (BH/Trooper) - Empire wins
Tank (warrior/knight) - tie
healer/mage (SI/JC) - Empire wins

Thats the way I see the classes, but in the end I really don't care, since I'm 90% sure I'm playing a tank. However, once we make a decision, we need to stick with it. When we played WAR, and Pawi will attest to this, we kept switching sides, and people lost interest of continuously changing sides and leveling.

I honestly dont care but I wanna go where we have more of the oppisite side to compeate agienst, but for me as a healer the Republic side seems to have more healing and support for the JC than the SI.

I don't think that will be the case. Both the IA and the SI will be healers, which is the same as the Republic, with JC and Smuggler. This is exactly the same with stealthers, both sides having 2.

I agree that competition should play into it. From what I see, the RPers and PVEers are choosing Repubilic and the PVPers are choosing Empire. So based on that, the choice would be obvious.

Also, I think a major part of the decision should be on which story do you want to play through. Not sure if you all heard about the 4th Pillar or not, but it's supposed to be the bees knees.

I'm down for either. Personally, it won't matter to me.

I love empire with all my heart and i'll fight for playing empire side with teeth and nails, but i also don't want to play an overzerged side.
I say we start on empire side and if its a zerg side, we switch to rebel scum.

Sith all the way. I want to be bad as possible.

Plus BH is much better than Trooper

I see the Sith side as underpopulated. Since 80% of folks/kids relate to Luke and Han Solo.

I also think the Imperial Agent will have a much cooler story and game play (although similar to Smuggler) than the Smug.

Personally I'm for sith, but I'll eventually roll a republic alt later down the road after I get to capp and established.

I would honestly say the best is being a empire side, bounty hunters and all.

i more or less want to go sith, but which ever side is the weak side, i would be up for going that too.

We need to first decide whether we are picking sides based on the classes/lore/etc or based on the competition we will have.

If it's for classes/lore/etc I would stick with Sith, since we have been all expecting to go Sith for the passed 2-3 years, why change that now?

Whichever has the lowest PvP population.

I enjoy playing the lowest pop, its more fun.

In regards to classes Empire/Sith take the cake atm... trust me on that one. Plus it would be much more fun playing the evil/dark side and wipping up on the good ole boys of the Republic.

However, I'm competitive and I want to fight against a side that will challenge me, so imo most of your better pvp guilds will be dark side which means the Republic would make a much better choice.

In the end I'll go either way as both sides present some good times to be had and I'm going to have fun no matter what is decided.

Of course population, competition, etc are all more important than anything else (assuming classes will be balanced on both sides). But from purely an aesthetic perspective I would prefer Empire. I just like playing as the "bad guys"

either is fine to me. I would like to play whichever alignment would offer the most challenge for us

Personally I'd favor empire a lot more, I can picture just as many fail players on both sides at this point.

Looks like Empire will win this. Should probably just close this down and put up a poll to make it official.

Honestly I think SWTOR is gonna suffer from the "Blood Elf" phenomenon. All the kiddies are gonna roll Sith b/c they want to be Darth Maul, not Han Solo. So republic gets my vote all the way. Also b/c the Trooper is the best class in the game.
